Welsh Water Pollution Woes

Welsh Water Pollution Woes

Stay safely hydrated when exploring the Welsh countryside

Yesterday, figures were released which show that Welsh Water discharged sewage into rivers, lakes and the sea 118,276 times last year. This equates to more than one sewage spill every five minutes, the equivalent of 968,000 hours. This level of pollution, which is posing a risk to the health of the environment and outdoor enthusiasts wanting to explore the Welsh countryside, was labelled as 'catastrophic' by Giles Bristow, CEO of environmental group Surfers Against Sewage. While rules allow a limited discharge of sewage in periods of excess rain, these levels surpass this and show an increase on the water company’s sewage discharge in 2023.

How to Stay Safe

For those hikers, campers and vanlifers who want to stay safely hydrated without needing to carry litres of heavy water with them on their adventures, LifeSaver’s water purification devices offer a solution.

Our technology can remove a minimum of 99.99% of harmful microplastics, bacteria, cysts and even viruses, making water from even the most highly polluted rivers, canals and lakes safe to drink with just a few pumps. The addition of an activated carbon filter also drastically reduces the level of chemicals and heavy metals in the water, as well as removing bad taste and odour for an enjoyable drinking experience. LifeSaver’s technology is independently tested to the highest standards to provide peace of mind and includes Failsafe technology which stops water from passing through the purifying cartridge when it needs to be replaced, so there’s no risk of consuming contaminated water.

LifeSaver Wayfarer™

Incredibly rugged and robust, this lightweight, pocket-sized water purifier is made in Britain and delivers quality that can withstand the rigours of life outdoors. All components are BPA and BPS free, and the filter can purify up to 5,000 litres of water before it needs replacing, making it an investment piece that will keep you safe for years to come.

LifeSaver Jerrycan

The perfect size for campers and those who like to explore the countryside on four wheels, LifeSaver’s Jerrycan has an 18.5 litre capacity and can be easily mounted to your vehicle using the connection apertures. Manufactured in the UK with a robust casing that is designed to stand up to the rigours of life on the road, the LifeSaver Jerrycan’s advanced filter can treat 20,000 litres of water before it needs replacing and is independently tested to the highest possible standards.

It requires no power or chemicals to work, all you have to do is fill the LifeSaver Jerrycan with dirty water, pump it through and then pour the perfectly fresh and clean water into a sterile container. With a flow-rate of 3 litres per minute, there is no waiting around for treatments to work and the filtered water can be drunk, used for cooking or for washing clothing and dishes. LifeSaver also offer a Shower Attachment (available separately), so you can freshen-up on the go, as well as rinse off wetsuits, surf boards or bike kit with ease.
